Painting Portraits with a tender Gaze.
When I paint a portrait, it’s never just about likeness. It’s about time - the quiet, unhurried hours spent in someone’s company. The pauses between conversations, the rhythm of their gestures, and the subtle expressions that reveal who they are beneath the surface. For me, painting is an act of deep attention - of seeing someone fully and with compassion. I often think of it as walking in another person’s shoes for a while. The finished portrait holds more than just an image; it encompasses the conversations, silences, and fleeting impressions gathered over time. Each brushstroke becomes a record of presence - mine and theirs - woven together in colour, texture, and emotion.
Every portrait is a collaboration between artist and sitter — part conversation, part creation.
